Understanding Jewish Identity
Being Jewish can refer to both a religion (Judaism) and an ethnicity identity. Judaism is one of the world’s oldest monotheistic religions, based on the belief in one God and teachings from the Torah. A person can be Jewish by birth (through Jewish ancestry) or by conversion. Jewish identity often includes cultural traditions, holidays like Passover and Hanukkah, and connection to the history of the Jewish people.
