Gaza’s Location
Gaza, often called the Gaza Strip, is a narrow coastal territory along the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It borders Israel to the north and east, Egypt to the southwest, and the Mediterranean Sea to the west. Gaza is about 41 kilometers (25 miles) long and 6–12 kilometers (4–7 miles) wide, making it one of the most densely populated areas in the world. It is part of the Palestinian territories and has been under the control of Hamas since 2007. Due to its location and political situation, Gaza is often at the center of conflict between Israel and Palestinian groups.
